Summary:In these last few pages of Parrot In The Oven kind of alot happen. The gang that Manuel has been wanting to join he finally does. One of the initiations was him getting brutally beaten by the other gang members,and he goes through with it all. After a few days pass Manuel still has bruses and bumps from the night of his initiation. Manuel later asksed his mom if he could go out to play ball. But because his mother had noticed that he had put baseball away a few months ago, she had said no at first. But because she believed that Manuel wouldn't get into trouble she changed her mind and let him leave. Manuel went to the drugstore were all of his friends seemed to be. After a while of trying to find somthing to do one of the friends Mondo got bored and left. Another Frankie left because the weather was getting so bad that it was blowing the electricity wire crazy. 
The third friend Eddie told Manuel to go with him. He hadn't said were he just said to go. Frankie tried to tell Manuel not to go because he knew the kind of stuff but Eddie insisted so Manuel went. To find out Eddie ends up stealing a womens purse that had just walked out of the bank. When Manuel was waiting across the street it all happened so fast that one minute Eddie was crossing the street, then the next he was running in the opposite direction. Manuel fallowed him but couldn't keep up because he was still sour from the beating. So he started to walk. When he got back to the drugstor he asked a man if he had seen Eddie running the man pointed down the street. After taking a breather the cops came speeding down the street. They stopped rite in front of Mnauel,When they asked him if he had known the boy who had stolen the womens purse the man behind him said for him that he was chasing him and he had went down the street. Even thought the man knew Manuel was with Eddie he figured what the cops didn't know wouldnt hurt them. So Manuel walked home and for no reaso when he got there he sat down in the livingroom and watched his two sisters sleeping peacfully on the couch. Not in a creepy way but in a big brother sort of way. And he slowly fell asleep.

Reaction: This quote really cought my attention hen I was reading. It was like he just realized how the most randomest thing like his sisters sleeping on the couch was so beautiful and wondurous.
