Parrot in The Oven-Mi Vida (pages 110-158)

Summary:So When we last left off we found out about the whole reason why Manuel's father calls him a Parrot. Well now Manuel is in school.He is in school hanging out with his friend Albert. When a teacher that is the boxing coach at his school, Mr. Lench, starts asking Manuel if his older brother wants to join the boxing team. When Mr. Lench leaves Manuel yells to him that his friend Albert wants to join, Albert is very weak and scrawny by the way. Albert has a crush on a teacher that him and Manuel wait to come out of her class just to see her walk down the hall and pay no attention to them. So Manuel decides to say "Hi!" to her. She gives him a wave and keeps moving with her so called puppies fallowing her. The puppies are all of the Caucasian in the school that don't have any friends because they're scared of all of the Spanish children.



Quote:" It was stupid sitting out there stuffed in a mountain of double sweaters, waiting for some teacher to make a grand apperience. She paid us less mind than she would a wod of chewing gum stuck on the sidewalk. That much I could tell by the way she waved at me"(Martinez 116).



Reaction: This one quote shows so much. It shows that this teacher that they spend so much time just waiting to look at walk down a hall could not care any less about Manuel or Albert. This also shows that Manuel realizes that waiting for this teacher is a stupid idea even though she is really pretty.He knows its a stupid thing to be wasting their time doing.
